OK, I can find 94% lean ground beef very easily here and it actually has less fat and calories in it than the ground turkey. I believe the ground turkey has some skin in it so it increases the fat and it is hard to find it skinless plus it is much more expensive. This is a real question, not a troll. I understand that a normal hamburger is not good for you. I'm not talking McDs, I'm talking about meals at home that contain ground beef. I do believe that even the lean beef has slightly more saturated fat and cholesterol than the turkey, but if your cholesterol is good (yes it has been checked by the doctor) is the 94% lean ground beef ok for you? I'm not talking everyday, maybe once a week at most. I might have red meat one other time during the week. Rest of diet is chicken and fish with pork a few times a month. I found the other thread but it was closed and noone gave a real answer. Lots of jokes about who would ask if a hamburger is good for you but I seriously came here to search and ask questions. This is a REAL question because you can find ground beef that is as low as or lower in fat and calories than ground turkey. My goal is weightloss but I want to do it healthily. |

when it comes to ground beef vs. ground turkey, what you need to look at is what KIND of ground turkey? 94% lean ground beef is just as good as any normal ground turkey, if not better. |

I'd get the lean ground beef. Or even go for a lean ground pork...it has a more meaty flavor, but it's a white meat. I think ground turkey tastes spongey..I can imagine an all white would be even worse. |

Many people think pork is white meat. Sorry to burst your bubble. It is not white meat and is just as bad for you as red meat! My SIL thought it was white and fed it to my brother several times a week to help him reduce his cholesterol. It didn't work! Pork is red meat! So to end the long standing debate, pork is and always has been red meat. The only real reason it was ever considered white meat is because the pork council decided back in the 80s that the term "red meat" had a bad stigma attached to it, and it was affecting sales. So they tried to cash in on the health food craze and it worked, sales went up. |

If you get 100% grass fed organic beef that is healthier then Turkey. Saturated fat is not bad for you and dietery cholesterol has little impact on serum cholesterol levels. The worst part of the hamburger is the bun. |

I don't know why but I'm pretty sure that poultry is much easier for the body to digest than beef. I personally don't like semi-digested food camping out in my body for more than 16 hours. |
